What is pH of 0.05 M potassium hydroxide solution (KOH) solution?

Potassium hydroxide is a strong base that ionizes in water to produce potassium and hydroxyl (OH-) ions. The following equations can be used to calculate pH for a strong base solution:

pOH = - log [OH-]
[OH-] = [strong base] = 0.05 M
pOH = - log 0.05 = 1.30

pH + pOH =14.00
pH = 14.00 - pOH
pH = 14.00 - 1.30 = 12.70
